San Jacinto Plaza is a historic park in the heart of downtown El Paso in front of the historic San Fernando Cathedral. The city of San Antonio recently completed a $5.3 million renovation of the plaza, which includes adding 10 feet of park area on all sides. The center point of the remodeling features a canopy, designed by Datum Rios engineers, that uses 1-in.-dia stainless steel cables to support a 50 ft square pipe-steel space frame attached to four post-tensioned concrete columns, each about 110 ft apart.
Other amenities include a full-service café, a huacha court, a reflecting pool and a splash pad.
