Datum Rios performed structural engineering services for Alamo Colleges' district administrative office complex and parking structure in San Antonio. The $50M headquarters facility is 180,000 sq. ft. and the two-story garage is 45,000 sq.ft.  The complex is situated on a 12.5-acre site.

The facility's superstructure consists of a tilt wall and steel-braced framing system with a wood roof deck and wood glulam beams for the high roof structure.  Floors above ground are concrete on composite floor deck and wide flange beams. The ground level floor is composed of conventionally reinforced pan-formed concrete joists and beams.  The foundations are straight-shaft concrete piers.

The design reflects the history of its location, the former Playland Park, which operated at the site from 1943 until 1980 and featured the “Rocket” all wooden roller coaster. The project is designed with environmental conservation in mind, including preservation of the pecan grove and the historic acequia on the property.

Planned for completion in 2019, the facility allows the Alamo Colleges District to house all 465 employees at one location, increasing operational efficiency.
